Who owns and operates the battery?
Base owns and operates the battery. Base handles all maintenance and service, so you never have to worry about it.

What happens if the battery gets damaged?
Base covers 100% of maintenance for manufacturing defects and damages out of your control like weather events or theft.

Is the Base Battery safe?
Safety is at the foundation of everything Base does. The Base battery system is UL certified, which is the gold standard of electrical systems safety for all home appliances. It is also fire safety rated. Base contracts certified, bonded, insured, and licensed electricians. They work under Base’s master electrician, who operates with license #476697. Additionally, Base batteries emit less electromagnetic fields (EMFs) than cell phones and WiFi routers, which are already considered safe.

Do I get charged for charging the battery?
No! Base will pay you for any energy that is used for charging and discharging the battery.

How long will the battery power my home during an outage?
Up to 24 hours, depending on your usage. The average Texas outage is only 2.5 hours, and our system covers 97% of all outages.

What happens if I move?
The Base battery can be seamlessly transferred to the next homeowner at no cost to you.

Who is my Electricity Provider?

If you receive your monthly energy bill and service from BEC, you will continue to do so with the installation of a Base battery.

Does my energy provider change when I get a Base battery?

No. Your energy provider does not change when you get a Base battery. If you see language about energy provider services on Base’s website, this is because Base also serves members in competitive (deregulated) service areas of Texas.
