What are utility delivery charges? Why is my "all-in" price different than my energy rate?

Edited

Utility delivery charges are standard fees imposed by Transmission & Distribution Service Providers (TDSP) such as Oncor or CenterPoint for delivering electricity to your home. These charges cover the maintenance of electrical infrastructure, power lines, and other grid-related services.

Base passes along TDSP charges to you with no markup; we do not have any control over these charges, and we do not receive any portion of the fees collected. These charges are standard across all energy providers within the TDSP's service area and they'd be the same regardless of who you choose as your energy provider.

Your all-in price includes our rate plus the utility delivery charges.

Your utility delivery charges are calculated at a fixed rate per kWh, but your total monthly charge varies based on usage. The more electricity you use, the higher your total utility delivery charges—not because the rate changed, but because you consumed more energy.
