What are city inspections of the Base battery installations? When and why do they happen?

Updated over a week ago

In Texas, some local authorities (AHJs - Authorities Having Jurisdiction) in incorporated areas require one or two inspections after the battery installation to close out the project and permits. These typically include a temporary/rough electrical inspection and a final electrical inspection.

The purpose of these inspections is to ensure that the battery system meets National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and that the installation is safe and compliant with local regulations.

Base will handle all coordination with the AHJ and notify you when the inspection is scheduled. There is no additional cost to you for these inspections. They typically take place within a couple of weeks after the battery installation.

As of September 1st, inspection requirements have standardized across the state. Base works with local authorities to understand their requirements, and will communicate to you if an inspection is required.
