How can I tell if I'm using energy from the battery or from the grid? How should I interpret the Base App “status” bar with “power source”, “battery charge”, and “estimated backup time”?

On your Base App you will see a light green "Status" bar, as well as the power source, battery charge, and estimated backup.

In addition to receiving App push notifications, you will know you're in a grid outage if there is no check mark next to "Grid" in the light green "Status" bar in your Base App/Dashboard.

  • Power Source – Displays the primary source powering your home over the last few minutes. Even when grid power is available, your battery may be the primary power source.

  • Battery Charge – Shows your current battery charge level. If you have multiple batteries, this reflects the combined charge. The level may fluctuate as the battery supports grid balancing or powers your home.

  • Estimated Backup Time – Displays how long your battery is expected to power your home during an outage, calculated from your current battery charge and your last 15 minutes of energy usage. This time is shown in tenths of an hour to avoid rounding down to 0 hours too quickly. Reducing energy consumption can help extend this estimated duration.
