Energy Charges:
Your energy charges are calculated based on your metered energy usage for the month multiplied by Base’s flat energy rate. While this line item includes energy you used plus energy Base used to charge the battery, you only pay for energy you used. The energy used to charge the Base battery is credited in the Battery Adjustment section below.
Battery Adjustments:
Base measures the amount of energy used to charge the battery and the amount of energy used to power your home. This ensures you only pay for what you use and Base pays for all battery charging costs. Base credits you for the cost of the energy used to charge the battery (Battery Credit Energy Charges), as well as the Oncor transmission and delivery fees associated with the energy used to charge (Battery Credit Utility Charges).
Solar Credits:
Base buys back all of your solar overproduction each month. Our buyback rate is 4 cents per kWh. Your credit amount is the rate multiplied by your kWh of unused solar. Underneath the credits, we also list your home’s solar usage (Solar usage by home) so you can see your usage alongside your overproduction.
Utility Delivery Charges:
Base is your Retail Electric Provider (REP), but your energy comes from your local Transmission & Distribution Utility (TDU) such as Oncor or CenterPoint. Your utility delivery charges are fees from your local utility for supplying electricity poles, wires, transformers, and meters in your area. Base has no control over these charges, passes them through with no markup, and does not receive any portion of them. They would be the same for you regardless of your chosen electricity provider.
Other Charges:
There are fees from other entities in addition to the TDU, for example from your municipality or from the Texas Public Utilities Commission (PUC). We pass these fees on to you with no additional markup. The most common fees you’ll see are:
Public Utilities Commission Assessment: State-imposed fee equal to 0.1667% of pre-tax charges.
Misc. Gross Receipts Tax Reimbursement: Fee assessed to recover the tax imposed on retail electricity providers operating in an incorporated city/town with a population greater than 1,000.
